Rising majestically on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in Casablanca, the Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world and a modern masterpiece of Moroccan-Islamic architecture. Completed in 1993, it blends traditional Andalusian-Moorish craftsmanship with modern engineering, featuring intricate zellij tilework, towering arches, and a 210-meter minaret—the tallest in the world. The mosque symbolizes spiritual grandeur and national pride, built partly over the sea to embody the Quranic verse: 'God’s throne was upon the water.'
